Last updated: 13 September 2026
These Penumbrata Terms of Use & Subscription Terms (“Penumbrata Terms”) govern access to and use of Penumbrata, a private digital contemplative environment conceived and directed by Adwoa Theresa.
Penumbrata is provided by:

These Penumbrata Terms supplement the general Terms & Conditions applicable to www.adwoatheresa.com. Where these Penumbrata Terms contain a more specific provision concerning Penumbrata, the Penumbrata-specific provision applies to that extent.
Mandatory rights granted to consumers under applicable law remain unaffected.
1. NATURE OF PENUMBRATA
Penumbrata is a human-led, artificial-intelligence-assisted digital environment for contemplative spiritual reflection.
Its conceptual framework, spiritual orientation, original thought, authored material, creative direction, editorial decisions, visual language and overall system vision are conceived and directed by Adwoa Theresa.
Artificial intelligence may be used as part of the technical and interactive infrastructure through which the human-directed environment is delivered.
Penumbrata is not presented as an independently sentient, spiritually authoritative or autonomous artificial-intelligence system.
Penumbrata may include, among other elements:
• contemplative field readings;
• authored spiritual and reflective material;
• symbolic, archetypal or mythic material;
• visual and sonic environments;
• contemplative sequences;
• private member content;
• journaling and reflection functionality;
• technical or interactive functions supported by artificial intelligence; and
• other digital material introduced as the environment develops.
The exact functions available to an individual member may depend on the access level or plan associated with that member’s account.
2. SPIRITUAL AND CONTEMPLATIVE NATURE OF THE MATERIAL
Penumbrata is intended as a contemplative and spiritual environment.
Its readings, imagery, symbolic structures, prompts, language and other content are offered for personal reflection, discernment and contemplation.
They are not representations of guaranteed fact, certain prediction, divine mandate, professional diagnosis or assured future outcome.
Participation in Penumbrata does not guarantee any particular spiritual, personal, relational, professional, financial, emotional or other result.
Members remain responsible for their own decisions, interpretation, conduct and actions.
3. NO PROFESSIONAL ADVICE
Penumbrata does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, legal, tax, investment or financial advice.
Nothing within Penumbrata should be understood as a substitute for advice, diagnosis, treatment or services provided by an appropriately qualified professional.
Penumbrata is not an emergency, crisis, medical or therapeutic service.
Where professional assistance is required, members should seek an appropriately qualified professional or relevant emergency service.
4. ELIGIBILITY
Penumbrata is intended for persons aged 18 years or older.
By purchasing, subscribing to or accessing paid Penumbrata membership, the member confirms that they are at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into the relevant contract.
Membership is personal to the registered member.
5. ACCOUNT AND ACCESS
Access to private Penumbrata functions may require a verified Wix member account and an eligible Penumbrata access plan.
Each membership is personal and non-transferable.
Members must not:
• share their account or login credentials with another person;
• allow another person to use their paid access;
• impersonate another member;
• circumvent access restrictions or entitlement controls;
• interfere with authentication or security mechanisms; or
• attempt to obtain access to material for which their account has not been authorised.
Members are responsible for keeping their account credentials confidential and for notifying the provider promptly if they reasonably believe that their account has been compromised.
6. CONTRACT FORMATION
Information displayed on a Penumbrata sales, membership or pricing page describes the available offer but does not itself constitute acceptance of an individual contract.
By completing the relevant ordering process and activating the final order or payment control, the customer submits a binding request to enter into the relevant Penumbrata contract.
The contract is accepted when the customer receives confirmation of acceptance or when the purchased Penumbrata access is activated, whichever occurs first.
The scope of the contract is determined by:
• the plan selected at checkout;
• the price and billing interval displayed before completion of the order;
• these Penumbrata Terms;
• any mandatory pre-contractual consumer information displayed during checkout; and
• the applicable withdrawal information.
7. DIGITAL PRODUCT
Penumbrata is supplied electronically as a digital product and/or digital service.
Access is generally provided online through the designated Penumbrata environment.
No physical product is supplied unless expressly stated otherwise.
Where access is purchased, the provider will make the relevant digital product available in accordance with the contract and applicable law.
Mandatory statutory rights relating to digital products and digital services remain unaffected.
8. PRICES AND PAYMENT
The applicable price is the price displayed to the customer immediately before the order is placed.
Prices shown to consumers include applicable VAT where legally required unless expressly stated otherwise.
Payments may be processed through Wix and the payment methods made available through the relevant checkout environment.
The provider does not receive or store the customer’s complete payment-card credentials merely by operating Penumbrata.
Separate terms of the relevant payment provider may apply to the technical processing of payment.
9. SUBSCRIPTIONS AND RENEWAL
Where the selected Penumbrata plan is offered as a recurring subscription, the applicable billing interval, price and renewal conditions are shown before the customer places the order.
A recurring subscription continues in accordance with the conditions communicated at checkout until it is validly cancelled or otherwise terminated.
No term in these Penumbrata Terms restricts a consumer’s mandatory statutory cancellation or termination rights.
Where a subscription is cancelled ordinarily, access normally continues until the end of the already-paid access period unless:
• the applicable plan expressly provides otherwise;
• an extraordinary termination takes effect earlier;
• access must be suspended for security reasons; or
• mandatory law requires a different result.
10. CANCELLATION
Consumers may cancel recurring Penumbrata subscriptions through the electronic cancellation mechanism made available on www.adwoatheresa.com and through any additional cancellation method required by applicable law.
Where the legally required online cancellation mechanism applies, it will remain directly and readily accessible and will provide electronic confirmation of a submitted cancellation.
Ordinary cancellation does not retrospectively invalidate periods of access already properly supplied.
Rights to extraordinary termination for good cause and mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
11. RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL
Consumers may have a statutory right of withdrawal under German and European consumer law.
The applicable Right of Withdrawal / Widerruf information provided during the purchase process forms part of the consumer information for the contract.
Where the customer expressly requests that performance or digital access begin before expiration of the statutory withdrawal period, the consequences of that request are governed by applicable law and by the withdrawal information supplied at checkout.
These Penumbrata Terms do not independently exclude or waive any statutory withdrawal right.
12. JOURNAL AND REFLECTION FUNCTIONALITY
Penumbrata may provide private journaling or reflection functionality.
The current Penumbrata implementation is designed so that journal and reflection text entered into the relevant local reflection functionality remains locally held within the user’s browser or device rather than being submitted to the Penumbrata server as ordinary journal content.
Members should therefore understand that:
• clearing browser data;
• using private browsing modes;
• removing local site data;
• resetting or replacing a device;
• browser security settings; or
• similar local actions
may result in locally stored reflection material being lost.
Penumbrata does not promise remote backup or recovery of material that exists only in a member’s browser or device.
Members remain responsible for independently retaining any reflection material they consider important.
The provider does not acquire ownership of a member’s original journal or reflection writing merely because the Penumbrata interface is used to create it.
13. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Penumbrata is human-led and artificial-intelligence-assisted.
Artificial intelligence may form part of the technical or interactive infrastructure used to operate or deliver aspects of the environment.
Artificial intelligence is not represented as:
• independently spiritually authoritative;
• conscious or sentient;
• capable of guaranteeing truth or prediction;
• a substitute for human discernment; or
• the originator of Adwoa Theresa’s authored spiritual framework.
Members should not treat artificial-intelligence-assisted functionality as professional advice or guaranteed spiritual fact.
14. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND AUTHORSHIP
Except for material expressly identified as belonging to another rights holder, Penumbrata’s original content, structure, authored texts, spiritual frameworks, selection and arrangement of material, visual direction, terminology, names, branding, concepts, protected graphics, sound works, written works and other protectable material remain the intellectual property of Adwoa Theresa Adu-Sanyah or the respective identified rights holder.
Purchase or membership does not transfer ownership of Penumbrata or its intellectual property.
During a valid period of access, the member receives a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the relevant Penumbrata material for private personal use.
Unless expressly authorised in writing, members must not:
• reproduce or redistribute substantial Penumbrata content;
• sell, license or commercially exploit Penumbrata material;
• publish private member material;
• scrape, harvest or systematically extract content;
• create unauthorised databases or archives from Penumbrata;
• reverse-engineer protected access or system functionality;
• use Penumbrata content to train, fine-tune, benchmark or populate an artificial-intelligence or machine-learning system;
• remove copyright, authorship or proprietary notices;
• present Penumbrata material as their own work; or
• create or distribute substantially derivative commercial products from protected Penumbrata material.
Ordinary quotations and uses permitted by mandatory copyright law remain unaffected.
15. ACCEPTABLE USE
Members must use Penumbrata lawfully and respectfully.
Members must not use the environment to:
• introduce malware or harmful code;
• probe or exploit security vulnerabilities;
• obtain unauthorised access;
• interfere with service operation;
• automate access in a manner not expressly authorised;
• scrape or systematically harvest protected material;
• infringe intellectual-property or privacy rights;
• commit fraud or impersonation;
• harass another person; or
• use the service for unlawful activity.
16. SECURITY SUSPENSION
The provider may temporarily restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to:
• protect the security or integrity of Penumbrata;
• respond to suspected account compromise;
• prevent unauthorised access;
• investigate substantial misuse;
• comply with a legal obligation; or
• perform urgent technical or security work.
Where practicable and legally appropriate, affected members will be informed.
A security suspension does not remove mandatory consumer rights.
17. CHANGES TO PENUMBRATA
Penumbrata is an evolving digital environment.
During continuous digital provision, changes may be made for valid reasons including:
• maintaining or improving security;
• correcting errors or vulnerabilities;
• maintaining technical compatibility;
• responding to changes in browsers, hosting environments or third-party infrastructure;
• complying with law or regulatory requirements;
• maintaining interoperability;
• improving usability or technical reliability;
• developing the contemplative structure or presentation of the environment; or
• updating features while preserving the essential nature of the contracted digital service.
Changes beyond those required to maintain contractual conformity will not impose additional charges merely because the change is made.
Where applicable law requires advance information about a change that materially impairs access or use, that information and the corresponding statutory rights will be provided.
18. UPDATES
Where legally required, updates necessary to maintain contractual conformity, including relevant security updates, will be made available during the applicable statutory period.
Members may be required to use a reasonably current browser, operating system or device configuration for continued technical compatibility.
Mandatory statutory update obligations remain unaffected.
19. AVAILABILITY AND MAINTENANCE
Penumbrata is an online digital environment and may occasionally be unavailable because of:
• scheduled maintenance;
• security work;
• technical faults;
• internet or infrastructure failures;
• necessary updates;
• hosting or third-party service disruption; or
• circumstances outside reasonable control.
The provider does not promise uninterrupted, error-free or permanently unchanged operation.
This provision does not limit the member’s statutory rights where the digital product is not supplied in conformity with the contract.
20. THIRD-PARTY INFRASTRUCTURE
Penumbrata may depend on third-party technical infrastructure, including hosting, authentication, payment and account-management providers.
Use of a third-party service may also be subject to that provider’s own terms and privacy information.
Use of third-party infrastructure does not transfer authorship or ownership of Penumbrata to the infrastructure provider.
Nothing in this section limits any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.
21. PRIVACY AND DATA PROTECTION
Personal data connected with Penumbrata is processed in accordance with the applicable Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law.
The Privacy Policy explains the relevant categories of data, purposes, legal bases, recipients or processors, retention principles and data-subject rights.
Payment information may be processed by Wix and/or the relevant payment provider as part of the checkout process.
Penumbrata’s server-side access system may process technical membership and entitlement information necessary to determine whether a member is authorised to access restricted content.
The use of privacy or data-protection rights does not remove any rights granted to consumers under mandatory law.
22. TERMINATION OR LOSS OF ACCESS
When paid access validly ends, the member’s right to use restricted Penumbrata material also ends, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
The member must not continue accessing protected private material through technical circumvention after the relevant entitlement has expired or ended.
23. TERMINATION FOR SERIOUS BREACH
The provider may terminate or restrict access where the member commits a serious contractual breach and, where legally required and reasonably possible, fails to remedy that breach after notice.
Immediate action may be taken where necessary because of fraud, deliberate security circumvention, unlawful activity, material infringement of intellectual property, serious misuse or a comparable substantial reason.
Any refund consequences are determined by applicable law and the circumstances of the termination.
24. LIABILITY
The provider is liable without limitation where liability arises from:
• intent or gross negligence;
• injury to life, body or health;
• liability under mandatory product-liability law;
• an expressly assumed guarantee; or
• another basis on which liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.
In cases of slight negligence, liability for breach of an essential contractual obligation is limited to the loss that was foreseeable and typical for the contract.
An essential contractual obligation is an obligation whose fulfilment is necessary for proper performance of the contract and on whose fulfilment the customer may ordinarily rely.
Mandatory statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
25. NO GUARANTEE OF SUBJECTIVE OUTCOMES
Penumbrata may be experienced differently by different people.
No particular emotional, spiritual, intuitive, contemplative or personal experience is guaranteed.
Descriptions of the character, atmosphere or intention of Penumbrata are descriptions of the environment and are not promises of a particular subjective effect.
26. COMMUNICATIONS
Contract-related notices may be sent electronically to the email address associated with the member’s account or provided during checkout.
Members are responsible for maintaining a current email address for contract-related communications.
27. CONSUMER RIGHTS
Nothing in these Penumbrata Terms excludes, restricts or replaces mandatory rights granted to consumers by applicable German or European law.
In particular, statutory rules applicable to paid digital products may govern provision, conformity, updates, cure, price reduction, termination and related remedies.
28. GOVERNING LAW
The contractual relationship is governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany.
For consumers, this choice of law does not deprive them of mandatory consumer protection afforded by the law of the country in which they have their habitual residence where such protection applies by law.
Mandatory rules concerning jurisdiction remain unaffected.
29. CONSUMER DISPUTE RESOLUTION
The provider is neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board, unless participation becomes legally mandatory in a particular case.
30. SEVERABILITY
If an individual provision of these Penumbrata Terms is wholly or partially invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain unaffected to the extent permitted by law.
The invalid provision is replaced by the applicable statutory rule.
